Three Major Interrelated Factors Contributing to Homelessness Issue among Former Prisoners in Malaysia

Homelessness issue among former prisoners in Malaysia upon their release is of great concern. Hence, this study aimed to identify the predominant factors influencing homelessness Malaysia. Imprisonment usually assumed be a negative life event and can act as hindrance for prisoner successfully integrate after being freed from prison. past criminal records are biggest contributors becoming homeless. This fact because imprisonment causes lose his source income, personal belongings, ability seek shelter relationships due family rejection, addiction unemployment. was based on Ecological Model Homeless by Nooe Patterson. The selection model considered appropriate aligned with objectives which that lead homeless prisoners. In study, nineteen prisoners, regardless type offence committed, were selected using snowball sampling method interviewed. findings revealed denial, unemployment, drug three major interrelated contribute during reintegration process. Housing security risk factor homelessness.
